    JUST a WAG

    Looks like a "C" with an "S" inside. Smith-Corona? April 1944? Probably a spare.

    One of the contract spare parts barrels made by sedgley.

    agree, Sedgly, check to make sure its straight.
    a lot of S and USMC barrels were bent.
