Is this Ft. Sheriden Illinois? If so I was stationed there in 1983 for 2 years, can not see any structures or water tower. I knew that the cav. used the parade field for drills and as a range, also down by the lakefront. They Army only had a few M16's and we had to local purchase .223 at the local store to Qual. in the small indoor range..It was a great place to be with allot of history.

Yes I believe so. If you search the LOC under "American Memory" there is a few old pics of Ft Sheridan. I can't find the link of the specific image now. The link for that section search is too long to insert.

These pics remind me of what a neat rifle the Krag is. I had one in the 80's that I carried and shot as much as possible. They balanced beautifully and shot like a dream. As illustrated by these two prints.
