Question about Type 99

I now have a T-99 Toyo Kogyo that a friend's father brought back from the war. From what I can find out, it's a series 32 and the bolt does not match the rifles s/n. I have read that Toyo Kogyo arsenal used assembly numbers on the bolts but have seen other post here of a series 32 with all matching numbers. Which is correct? Does anyone know mfg. date s/n 973XX?

Matching by assembly number was discontinued during the early part of 30th series production. A 32nd series should be matched by serial number.

973xx is late in 32nd series production, so that would have been made in the last months of 1943.

I have 14 type 99 rifles. All of mine are Nagoyas. They are all matching in serial numbers. Some have the mum some don't. None of them cost me more than 400.00 and most in the 250-300 range. Any type 99 offered for 750.00 is a gun the seller knows nothing about as far as values go. You can find matching and mummed type 99's out there. The monopods were discontinued at the end of the 4th series and into the every early 5th series. After that type 99's did not have the monopod. Bayonets go from 75-125. as the war progressed and Japan was loosing more each day the type 99's had less of the earlier things on them . Such as cleaning rods, rear sights, monopods and even the stocks were cruedly made. Japanese rifles were strong guns and are fun to collect because each series is different.

I'm new to the Japanese rifles such as the T-99. I have one that is a No Series T-99 made at the Nagoya Arsenal in early 1941. It is all matching, mum scrubbed, no pod but has the AA wing sights. I found it at the flea market for $75.00.
