My Long Branch DCRA with Enfield magazine will not feed rounds from the magazine. The mag sits too low, the bolt overrides the top round and doesn't even touch it. I was shown a picture showing that Enfield milled the bottom of the receiver in the mag well area, allowing the magazine to sit up higher, thus presenting the round to the bolt. Without that extra milling the mag just fills in the hole and looks pretty.

My DCRA is exactly the same, no extra milling and the regular enfield 303 mag is only there as a loading platform.

Since I took the picture I have found and added the middle sling swivel and a TZ4/47 rear sight.

And yes there is a huge variation in these rifles, the "military" batch was bilt on Longbranch recievers but the "Club" rifles were as varied as the individuals who owned them. Mine is built on a Savage reciever that was converted to the Mk2 trigger (Mk1/3)

I still have to take it out shooting with the new rear sight, after hunting season I guess

I also have the Albert Parker TZ4/47 sight...

I found a guy from California on Joustericon who is swapping magazines with me. He has the Sterling conversion mag, several people said they go right in and feed fine without the need for milling. They don't have the built in ejector but guess what? The ejector on the Enfield mag doesn't do a damned thing anyway, it sits too low and won't be coming up anyway without the milling that is not getting done. So, if the Sterling mag feeds and doesn't eject I'll be 50% better off. I saw a pic of the Sterling ejector, they drilled a hole in the receiver and had a top hat shaped ejector held in place with a piece of spring steel retained by the ejector screw.

Any reason why I shouldn't make this trade? We're actually mailing them today.

Here's the pic of the Sterling conversion ejector- anyone know anyone in Canadaicon who can do this mod? I wouldn't mind getting my rifle working properly. I have a No 4 Mk 2 with a 7.62 barrel, I wouldn't touch the Long Branch.
