    03A3 Rem. VS. SC ? ?

Is there any reason to pick one over the other ?
I ask because I have been looking for a Rem but came across an SC.
However the SC is alot of money for me.
What should I expect to pay for an all correct near perfect SC ?

I see so few correct/near perfect SC rifles that a price might be off. I would GUESS starting $1200.00. Others will chime in, I hope.

Nice to know that a correct and perfect Smith-Corona would go for over a grand. I got mine about 50 miles from where they were made, and it is unissued, never been rebuilt, and still has a barrel full of cosmolineicon. Some day I'll have to take some pics and post them.

    (1) SC's are more scarce. Fewer were made.

    (2) SC's are more valuable.

    (3) SC's are more accurate.

    (4) A minty SC should fetch about $1200 or more.

    Hope this helps.

    That does help

I see this one went for $1,250
So what specifics made it worth that much ?
Is it certian markings or just that it is very clean and an SC ?

Most I see are going for under $800

Sorry for all the questions but I am considering one locally for $1,000
Which is really out of my budget, but I want a nice one that I will keep forever

The bolt is a replacement and you can't see much from the pictures the seller posted. The finish doesn't look right to me, either. As I said on another forum, $800.

S.C. 03a3's are more accurate, because...?

Should they be more accurate because of High Standard 4 groove barrels?

Most SC '03-A3's have been overhauled, refinished, and re-assembled from mixed parts. Those generally fetch $800 or less as you observe.

The rifle on GB was described as being "99% unfired." And it fetched a price commensurate with that condition. Unfortunately, as RtL pointed out, the rifle has a replacement bolt. The rest looked original.

I am not at liberty to explain why SC '03-A3's are more accurate. But, I can report the information as fact. And the High Standard barrels contribute to the superior accuracy.

    p.s.,

I do not claim that every single SC rifle is more accurate. I speak of them as a group. I'm sure someone is waiting to pounce that his SC rifle won't hit the side of a barn while standing inside it.
