    US Military Axe?

Last night I dreamed that I restored my father's old axe. I dreamt that I wanted to keep the old axe handle so I put it in a planer and took off a quarter inch off each side and then bonded three eights strips of Mohongany to the handle and work the axe handle down to the original shape.

So this morning I went and dug out my dad's axe just to look at it. That was when I noticed that it had the US and two numbers, one of the numbers is a 2 but not sure what the other is, maybe a 9. Anyhow, if this is a US Military Axe It would not surprise me at all since my Dad was in for over 30 years. Korea, Vietnam, and the cold war years.

Has anyone seen one of these and have any information on it?

    Thanks,
    Bill
