    Tokarev SVT40

    HELP !!!! Please !!!

Once upon a time there was a ridiculous regulation here in Mauserland called the "Kriegswaffenkontrollgesetz" which was intended to prevent military rifles from looking like - yes, you guessed it - military rifles.

As a result, things like the flash hider and bayonet lugs were cut off Enfield no.5s, No. 4s had the bayonet lugs on the barrel sawn off -etc. etc.

And the SVT40 had the barrel brake removed.

This nonsense is now past, and the barrel brake was put back on again some time ago, but only secured with a grub screw (weak) which was not even secured with Locktite or something similar (bad mistake).

Well, the inevitable happened - the grub screw must have loosened, and two weeks ago, when my friend arrived home: no barrel brake!

Needless to say, all plausible and even a number of implausible corners of his home and the range were searched. No luck.

So the appeal for help is thus: has anyone out there got a dimensioned drawing of the SVT40 muzzle brake? We could machine a replacement, if only we knew the dimensions. Tokarev spares are strictly unobtanium here.

Even the length and diameter would help in scaling up a good photo.

Thanks for reading this, and extra thanks to anyone who can produce dimensions or a drawing.

    Patrick
