Not meaning to hijack the thread, but I got an idea of an inexpensive "tank" that I am going to try...

The stock measures under 4" in height when stood up. I am going to get a 3 foot section of 4" PVC pipe and close off one end. Then stand up the pipe, insert the stock and pour BLOicon over it and let it soak over night. I picked up a cheap Italianicon Stock to experiment with in case something goes afoul. Figure the pipe and end piece is about $13 bucks, the BLOicon (1 gallion) is running under $20 and can be used over again.

Does anyone think it will work?

TR, sounds like it should work. When you get it put together I would like a pic of it. You're going to need to secure it upright somehow. That shouldn't be to hard to figure out for a Texakan though. Glue the bottom cap and just put the top cap on when not in use.....Frank

Charlie, What are you using for your tank? You must have a nice set-up.

I had a local farm repair make up SS tanks for me that I can use to repark or soak stocks in.
I have 4 tanks total. All are big enough to repark barreled receivers in.
2 fit 2 B/Receivers, the other 2 can fit up to a dozen stocks.

Your PVC pipe idea will work. When finished soaking a stock in it and before you store it away upright........ pour just enough mineral spirits (regular paint thinner) over the top of your BLOicon to keep it from drying out on you. When getting ready to use it again just stir the spirits in or pour off.

    Cheers,
    Charlie

I've cleaned up some old stocks with Windex with ammonis. I added a little bit more ammonia and it really cleans well.
