I find it particularly rewarding (if not financally) bringing a modified/bubbed milsurp back to life. It affords the oppertunity to get to know the inner workings and appriciate the skill that were involved in the design and manufacture of these historic arms.

Agreed , after i sell the stock that came on it , the broken aircraft sights and the bayo lug, i have little over 350.00 in total restoration, i think i could get close to 600.00 to 650.00 on GBS just because it is so complete with all
ww2 parts.most matching.Still need an early ball tipped style scabbard and 6 inch bolt dust cover it will be 100% complete with all ww2 parts. Got a nice tokyo kokura bayo for her off e bay 50 bucks, but no scabbard .
And i decided against altering the mint bolt dust cover i had i resold it on e bay until i find a real 6 incher.Did not want to destroy the original bolt cover to try and make it fit.

Mil,
I have been looking for Type 30 bayo scabbards... even repops for my 3 bare blades. I have found 2 venders, but they are around $30.00 each IIRC. Price you pay I guess, for getting "fixer upper" bayos.

been bidding on them like crazy on e bay but they go for darn near 100.00 bucks and im simply refusing to pay that at this time for a scabbard alone, so imma keep looking on e bay for now , i will find one eventually, i need that early ball tipped one to be correct.
So i will hold out till i find one for right price they can be found on ebay pretty often but they are bringing very outrageous prices right now.I posted that bolt dust cover was too long on ebay for 82.50 sold within 3 hours , scabbards seem to be same they get scooped up by people have the money to throw away i guess i do not have right now lol.
