But it's not difficult to cut the screwdriver slot with a hacksaw followed by a needle file.
Eclipse used to make a wonderful tool called the '4S' a handle with a multitude of different blades for slotting, scraping, slitting and sawing - the slotting/slitting blades came in a variety of widths and are perfect for producing screwdriver slots.
You can often find them 'on that site' for very little

As long as you get it centered...
It's not as difficult as some people make out or imagine, Jim. All that needs to be done is to ensure that there is an equal distance each side of where one intends the slot to go and this can be checked with the aid of a steel rule.

Mmmmmmm.......... I'm sure that we all know how to find the centre if you don't mind me saying F10. It's just physically slitting using hand tools - on site and across a small diameter compound radius - that causes a bit of angst I'd suggest..............

I was responding specifically and directly to Jim's post.
It would, perhaps, be reasonable to assume that the OP doesn't currently have the knowledge/facilities to make the screw himself and that is the reason that I responded to his posts, to do my best to help him.
