Thanks Pattern14,
the problem is that we have an G11 and not an K31
. Do you know a source for an G11 scope mount?
All the best

"...1911 Rifle and Carbine Drill & Taps mounts will be available very soon." (excerpt from Swiss Sights by St Marie Graphics).
Wait! I'm confused, are you looking for K11 carbine, Model 1911, or 1896/11 mounts?

p.s. Nevermind, I see Patrick Chadwick has a 96/11... Old guys have trouble reading sometimes.

Seems we have parallel thoughts, Gunner!
However, I am giving ZG2 a miss. I went to Trugleben a couple of years ago, and found that the guys left and right of me appeared to be firing what were effectively benchrest rifles.
So, having finished a proud last, I took a close look at the regulations. They specify service rifles, as in ZG1, but there is a second paragraph that says (in English, for the benefit of the other forum members) "Also permitted are rifles that meet the dimensional requirements of SG2 or SG2 ... max. weight 7.5 kg ... trigger pull down to 500 grams ... fore-end width up to 6 cm... pistol grip... buttstock adjustable horizontally, vertically, and radially up to 15 degrees." etc etc
Which all makes it pointless to participate with a genuine service rifle, however good. I must have been the only one to be so naive!
I learnt to shoot full-bore rifles in my shirtsleeves. If you couldn't do that, you were not holding the rifle correctly. But that was half a century ago. These days, everybody looks like they are wearing a padded cell.
Participating in ZG2 with a genuine 1918-vintage service rifle is obviously about as sensible as participating in Formula 1 with a 5-liter Bentley.

Pattern14, thanks for the info.
I do know this site, but I am also averse to drilling holes in perfectly matched original rifles. It will have to be a clamp solution (if possible!) and that looks like it's going to involve milling and shaping. You know how it is... one of those jobs where you spend 10 hours to hand-carve what a factory could machine in 10 minutes.

Patrick, you're right with your last sentence. I also know that there is probably no flowerpot to win with a service rifle, but the stimulus that it might work is just too large. Think only of a look at the faces when you come into the first 10 with such an old service rifle. Weird, yes but i think i have to do this.
Happy Easterdays

Patrick you're correct but as I was originally trained as a sculptor I would enjoy 10 hours of hand carving!

I just installed the Swis Products aluminum clamp on mount. Try to get Millett rings, their 3/8 works fine. Range day this week! Will report.

I look forward to more info and results as I purchased a K-31 and liked it so much that I immediately ordered another one. The set up, its mechanics and all matching with the name and address behind the butt plate. I may if not altering it permanently turn one into a scoped K-31. Oh the possibilities.

I've had as many as five different scopes and three different version of diopters on just one of my many K31s, all with the clamp-on mount feature. no changes or holes to the original rifle.
