There is no magazine. I will hate telling the guy that the Enfield is not worth what he thinks it is. He is also offering 2 No.1 Mk.III butts and a No.4 butt for $5 each, so I might buy those to soften the blow

A standard Indian .410 will have conversion markings on the left side of the butt socket; 410 RFI (date)

Steve, there were no markings on the left side of the butt socket - I looked twice 
Well, the owner did sell it, with 2 No.1 Mk.III and 1 No.4 Mk.1 buttstocks, for a grand total of $275. From what you have said above, I am surpised. The seller is going to take the forend off (the one with the volley sight plate still attached) and use it on a different project, and I will be visiting him in the near future to see his Enfield collection.

There's why- the new owner ponied up for a fore stock he wanted! He just ended up w/ some other fodder, too.
