Good Guess Amatikulu, but Royal Artillery would of been marked RGA, and was formed into brigades and batteries IIRC.

As for the one underneath, the middle letter looks like an R, but dont recall anything to them initials, nearest I can think of is HTS, which was the Hampshire regiment.

In most cases (but not all) the markings are (battalion)(regiment)(weapon number) sometimes company will be between regiment and weapon number.

During the Great War the Royal Artillery comprised the: Royal Garrison Artillery, Royal Field Artillery, and Royal Horse Artillery. In the 1920s it became the Royal Artillery (again) BUT some regiments retained their Royal Horse Artillery titles. e.g 7 Para Regiment RHA.

The Artillery don't have COMPANIES either. They have Batteries............

Peter, I guess my guess was a bit out of date

I see the artillery used the term companies up to 1858 and then changed it to batteries - I guess 1858 is a little early for a P1907 bayonet

However, the stamping is clearly R.A. "3." C.

perhaps that's the Royal Automobile "3 wheeler" Club
