    understatement

yes they def changed their viewing on gun parts unless it's an AK 47 but people get around that, The parts go for a fortune. But there are some good deals. Like K98icon Bolts and such.

I have ran across a few receivers on there that were obviously illegal to sell. one was a early 1900's .32 revolver. I don't know if they just had not caught it yet or didn't know.

I have had a reply from the seller and you are quite right Brian he believes that because of the pre 1898 rule he is ok, I have replied and again pointed out that while he my be able to sell these items in the US he would be breaking the law if he tries to export them to the UKicon

Placed a couple of these on my watch list, one I would'nt mind myself, if the price is reasonable I might have a slash at it to see how it manages to get to me and if I need to fill out import papers, could be interesting.

I suppose they've machined the shoulder, otherwise it will tighten up 180 degrees out.

Surely Buccaneer, if you really did want what he's selling, it wouldn't be beyond the wit of anyone to get the paperwork to import it. I've done it on more occasions than I can care to remember. IF it's all above board, then that's all the UKicon people are interested in

Hi Peter, I am fuuly aware of the procedure for importing this sort of item. The point I was trying to make, obviously not very well, was that you can't just pop this sort of thing into a jiffy bag and post it as this seller was appearing to say on the auction site.
The other question is one that probably our North American forumers can answer is does a gun have to be made on or before 1898 to be exempt as in both cases I have mentioned both of the items came from either a "model 94" carbine and a "model 96" rifle both of which could and probably were made after 1898???

The actual date of manufacture is the deciding factor. Even NLR, (No License Required) shipments must be lodged with the AES system before shipment by whatever method. I talked to a guy last week who ordered a new SMLE barrel from a prominent distributor in Canadaicon and they just mailed it to him. No muss no fuss! Little did he know that there's been an import ban on military surplus barrels since July 2005!

We deal with the Customs on a not too frequent basis I hasten to add and they freely accept that occasionally, 'shxx happens' and there is clearly and obviously no thought of fraud or michief or wrongdoing or any criminal intent. When it does happen and it's the fault of the UKicon end, then they can and do just impose a small fixed penalty. If it's NOT the fault of the UK end, they'll just hold the goods, make sure that you get the right documentation/clearance and that's the end of the matter after a bit of written 'advice'. Except for Drugs and money laundering at any time which sounds fair enough to me

When I asked '........how do you know if it's a genuine oversight or just one of those 'shxx happens' events.......? He replied 'Oh.... we know. Experience dear boy....., experience!

All depends what the package contains, The last shipment I recieved From Brian was 4 x Enfields, before these were shipped customs phoned me as they wanted a quick chat, as at the time, a certain dealer was importing parts but also in the box was things that were not on the import license (I think he is still awaiting extradition to the USAicon)!!!!

Anyway the point the customs were making was regardless were it comes from, if my package had anything else in apart from 4 x Enfields then it was me who was Liable as the import licence was for 4 x Enfields and I was WARNED.

Lucky for me it was coming from Brian so had no problems (they know who all the exporters are), in fact the rifles arrived before they could arrange a meeting with myself, normaly just a routine check etc and inspect your books.

Well, the first No.4 barrel should have gone off about now, I hope one of you yanks got it, the very low price certainly is an enticement, but by the time I add the cost of postage, import certificate, and the all round hassle, I could have one made over here.
The No.1 barrel may be interesting also.
