It COULD be reamed out but that's not the ideal solution. I have something called a chamber ironing tool which pushes the metal back without removing any meat. I got it years ago from Brownell's. Very handy esp. if you like old .22s.

Thanks for all the help guys ! Took the rifle to my trusted gunsmith and he had the chamber fixed up in ten minutes ! ( a no charge job to boot ! ) . The chamber reaming tool worked really slick and a quick trip to the range proved to be quite satisfying.
