New to M1 carbines....what do I have????????

thanks.......I have enjoyed it since I got it.. think ill keep it for my boys to enjoy one day...if anyone has feedback on the accessories I would appreciate it....the 30 rounders have no marks but are shiny blued..maybe repops or real? thanks again

I think the 30s are civilian made. I can't see any markings anywhere or anything to make me think they're military. Doesn't matter, if they work that's fine. The bayonet is Turner Manufacturing and correct for Korea or after. The pouches can be viewed on another thread here that a senior member shows in his full collection. There's info on all the pouch manufacturers here too...

It is a wonderful piece of history to pass on to your kids. It is a self contained historical story. Congrats. Kids, even when they get old, will love it. My son is 38 and a Captain for San Diego Co. Fire. He has an HK91 clone and an AR15 M4gery, as well as some more traditional weapons. Dad's M1 Carbine is one of his favorite to shoot, however. When we get together and go shoot, he always makes sure I am bringing the carbine. There is also the history part, as he knows his grandfather (my dad) carried an Inland M1 Carbine on Iwo Jima, and his dad (me, of course) carried one for years as a Law Enforcement trunk weapon. He grew up shooting the carbine.

ordered November 22, 1967 and shipped out of dept December 13, 1967.......

CMP sold thousands of Carbines (and Garands) around 2007-2010. I got a nice Inland rack grade for $435, though other grades and maker were a little more. There is word that there may be 1500 more in CMP later this year. That will last about a week.

1500 may last 2 days if you are lucky but since the CMP hasn't had any in close to 7 years now and aren't expecting anymore unless by some miracle the State Dept releases the 3/4 million sitting in Korea, but don't hold your breath, those 1500 might even end up on the auction block. Just my 2 pennies.

so does anyone have any idea what my M1 may be worth with the "as issued" status and the paperwork? and does it being a direct purchase from Rock Island Arsenal in 1967 make it any more valuable? thanks

It is probably worth more "as is" with the paperwork than it would be as a put together almost like original parts gun restored to its 1944 as issue. In this case, "resoring it would decrease its value. Just my humble opinion.

I have chosen not to change a thing, as it is exactly as it would have been if sent into Korea...after in was referbed between 47-58 I don't think it ever left RIA...so I agree, im not changing a thing thanks... is the sn# 42,42, or 44? I thought it was 1942...
