    SOG Carbines

I am still trying to buy a Carbine. I finaly got my FFL03 Collectors license after waiting 108 day, finaly had to call BATF and then I got it in 5 days. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever bought a Carbine from SOG. I see they have a lot of carbines for sale for $695.00, or for $25.00 dollars more will hand pick but I bet that's a rip off. They do not give very much info. and only 1 stock photo of a rifle. Maybe a piece of junk.
Have any of you guys ever bought one from them. ( Israeli surplus- are these made in Israeli or are they US Carbines made in usa and at one time sold to Israeli ) and now coming back.
    THANKS

DICKX, I got one from SOG. It is a Stan. Pro. mixmaster, all USGI. I would say as good as CMPicon sevice grade. I had herd that the Israeli's took good care of their guns so thought why not give it a try. When I took it out of the box, boy was I disapointed. The rifle was the dirtiest gun I have ever seen!! It was shot and not cleaned, covered in crud, old oil and sand. It took two days to clean it. When it was done much to my surprise it had alot of original finish under the gunk, a real good bore and is a very good shooter. It has a small import stamp under the barrel and some Israeli marks on the receiver. It came in a IO stock with a clear CC and some Israeli numbers stamped around the grip. It also has the well known serial # stamped by the sling well that a mag pouch covers. I changed it to the right stock though. The $25.00 for hand picked is a rip. They say they give you a better one based on a visual. I got this one when SOG first received them so I don't know what they have left or if it would matter. HTH.....Frank

They are USGI carbines made here not in Israel. Imported by Century Arms and so marked. Most are in pretty good shape as they were well taken care of in Israel. All were post war rebuilds before leaving here and were most likely rebuilt over the years over there too.
