Yes agreed. It's a Lithgowicon heavy barrel.

Is there a meaning to the "T" stamped on the rear sight block? Both my factory H barrels have this mark.

Tapered cross pin. It's predominantly present on rifles assembled late 1920's to late 1930's, hence if being present on your H models.

Thanks for the comments but what is "ridgedidge"? And Muffett, when you say it's a Lithgowicon H barrel do you mean the barrel itself is authentic or that the barrel was installed by Lithgow? Given that I payed sporter price for it it's of no great consequence- just curious and too much time on my hands. The picture shows our backyard two days ago and my range is up in the foothills and probably got 2 or 3 feet of snow.

Ridgedidge (Aussie Slang) = the real deal, and just about any other connotation you can come up with to pronounce something as the genuine article we have a very vast dialect here for such things.

I took it he meant its a Lithgowicon made H barrel rather than a shortened MLE barrel.

Ridolpho I can't offer you any more. It's very hard to determine the exact origins of theses things sometimes. It is what it is mate and if you want a lithgow H model, just restore it.

Had one years ago that appeared identical, including the finish and the markings struck after the bluing was applied. Had the deep-cut rifling, rather than the shallower cut seen on the later barrels (post-war?) Pretty rare thing in North America, especially with the action attached.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
