I was incorrect in my previous comments. I looked at three Long Branch line throwers. 1943 and 1950 ones did not have the N marking on the socket. The 1944 version shown has the BritishNavy N marking on the socket and R anchor N marking on the buttstock which seems to confirm that N is a British marking and C^N is a Canadian
marking. But a Long Lee thrower pictured in another entry would seem to dispute that assumption.
