Any negative effects of storing a paratrooper carbine in the jump bag in the safe?

Seems to be a strong consensus against storing in the case especially if you don't have climate controlled safe space. Thanks to everyone for the advice and real world experiences.

Wipe'm down lightly oiled and store naked I have 3 safes packed and whilst over the 20 odd years there has been a couple of minor scratches put on a stock nothing major I can tell you a 10 gun safe holds 4 eff class 1 full bore & 1 303 thats it so unless you shoot with broom sticks I can never see how you would fit 10 scoped rifles in it, one safe I have a 3 gun has 3 x 303s and a Lithgow Mod 12 .22 pulled out of the stock with no mag so that safes full to.......

Considering ours were supposed to get daily cleaning, it was still a problem.

I store all mine in the safe in silicone gun socks. Every 6 months I wipe them down with Ballistol. I have an RV dehumidifier in the safe also.

Love me some Ballistol. I don't think it gets all the press it deserves. Great stuff.

How does Ballistol affect vintage original finish wood like on the M1 Carbine? I have a can of it and read raves about how it is a great overall product. I'm a bit nervous about anything other than linseed oil on my 70+ year old carbine stock though.

Ballistol isn't going to hurt your carbine. It's mostly mineral oil, just look up the MSDS on it. It's good stuff, has a ton of uses.

I like the idea of one product in a spray can that can clean, lubricate, and protect. A quick search indicates mineral oil may not be good for leather so do you agree that I should avoid getting it on the leather cheekpiece?

Nah, Ballistol is fine on leather. I can't link to the MSDS right now but it says medical grade mineral oil, no chlorine. One thing you don't want to use it on is Nickel plated stuff
