Could you show us a complete pic? I had original cases and that was all I used through it. Loaded it and shot it regularly. One day going through 40 rds on range, was likely the most .236 ammo that had been fired since the '30s...at one time.

I hope these pictures are helpful, you can see where someone removed the original front sights and did a poor job of it.

Lee Navy .236 cal. is the 6mm Lee Navy. When they have it, Buffalo Arms wants $60.59 per 20 for loaded ammo. Otherwise there's no ammo or brass currently available.
That one is missing at least the hard guard. However, the Winchester Collectors talk about civilian sales. Maybe. Dunno. If it's a civilian Lee Navy, it'll be worth more. Go here. It's decidedly comprehensive.

That appears to me to be an original sporter. Mine has been gone for some years now, we were discussing these a year or so back. The grip cap and grasping grooves suggest original sporter. The sights too, a Winchester semi Buckhorn type rear sight...Sheard type front... Very nice. Mine went through some hard times and I had to have a stock ,made for it. Had nothing but the back end to work with. The ammo was about $3 CDN each here some time back. I haven't bought any for a while. I had some boxes too but they were hard put and not worth anything. My brass went with the rifle as you can imagine.

There are a few advanced collectors here that I hope will jump in for more definitive info.

Your Winchester – Lee Navy Rifle #12544 was one of 2,911 manufactured in 1898. There is not a lot of collector interest in these rifles and Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms gives a value of Very Good = $950 to Excellent = $2,000.

We have two Ross Canadian rifles, the other one is a factory built sporting rifle, I have one sealed box of Ross ammunition as well.
