I'd like to see how he got his thumb inside the magazine, that far, while loading a full clip of ammo, and had it hit by the bold on that side....sorry, just am not accepting this is a legitimate picture of Garand Thumb as a result of loading a full clip of ammo. I suspect he smashed it with an empty magazine, not loading.

Garand thumb" going here.
As I understand it, Garand thumb is the act of the bolt fact smashing the thumb, which is in the magazine, when the bolt slams forward, crushing the thumb.
Others are referring to the remote possibility that some part of the bolt slamming forward may nick or scrape the thumb.
I'm talking about the real-deal, full bore, smasheroo to the thumb, Garand thumb.
I agree, there should be two categories. One is disabling. The other is a pinch and a scare.

A slow motion, close up of normal loading would be sufficient.

Wow I do not think I have seen this much controversy since Crossfire went off the air. I for one appreciate all viewpoints and take all viewpoints into account.

It's possible if there were only 7 rounds in the clip. The bolt could over run the top round and attempt to chamber the thumb instead.
