A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Dang,

I have an 'N' on my completely original Inland and it's still staked in place. Should I pound off the original front site and look for a 'Z'?

It's unavoidable these days but many of the new guys are reading so much about fakes on the internet before they spend any time in the field learning.

cafdfw, I think you're missing the point that BHP and I are trying to make in that some front sights produced by Niedner were stamped to appear as either "N" or "Z" and either is correct. You are spot on concerning some of the noobs who believe everything they read about carbines and take it for gospel when the reality is that nearly anything goes when so many were produced in such a short time. BTW, the front sight on my original Inland sports an "N" just like yours.

I was just kidding about my front sight.

You're correct - Point was that the fakers have gotten so bad it's gone backwards fooling the new guys, and with all the warnings about them even the new guys with little knowledge don't trust anything even if it's real.

    Front Sight

This is a late Inland that hasn't been touched. It's the only carbine I have that I'm sure is 100% - I wouldn't remove the front sight for anything.

Milling on handguard. Never sanded and the stock looks the same.

Happy ending. Greg was kind enough to sell me the returned front sight. My thanks to all the Forum Members that gave a thumbs up, and a special thanks to the other guy's "experts" that supported the return. The returned Z (T1) sight looks great on my Q-HMC.
PS Greg is a great guy to do business with.
