Hugh One:
You are right to state the word "long" with regard to the RSA article. Unfortunately there is also a lot of incorrect information in this article.
I tried to get a current copy of Man at Arms from the local Barnes and Nobels, but no luck. I will keep looking.
or at the local "Books A Million" . The information desk didn't have a clue what I was asking for and I didn't see it on the shelf with the rest of the rags.
I DO have a copy of the article, but wanted one in published format.
Larry, email me or JB if you just can't get it where you are.
HTH,
Emri
Your best bet is to send away for one from the Man at Arms website. There should be a link in my first reply.

Got the MAA magazine a few days ago, read the Red Star piece, and just today finally finished re-reading it, taking notes. Outstanding. The writing was well-done, and the information was very helpful.
I recently acquired a Rem 1903, quite unexpectedly actually, and was trying to learn more about these rifles in order to vet mine. I wanted to compare the Britishmarks on the Red Star 1903s to the ones on mine.
Mine is serial-numbered 30268XX and has a finger-groove stock, but is without the lightening cuts on the base of the rear sight. Barrel dated 12/41, with the "RA" imprint and flaming thingy. Unlike the Red Stars, however, it does have the "BNP" export stamp on the bolt handle, receiver and elsewhere. Mine also has that mysterious "43" number just ahead of the trigger guard.
Thanks again for a great article.

Old School is still Cool ...
Let me add my compliments to those above for both JB and RtL. I greatly enjoyed both the written article and the photos. Any additional comment or conjecture you cared to add on the rifle with SADAL marked stock would be of special interest. I have two rifles with that rework mark, but of course, neither of mine is a Remington. Regards !
Thanks Emri. I think what I will do is as RTL suggested and get one right from MAA. Awesome article!!
Again, I supply mailorder information to obtain the magazine from Man at Arms in a seperate post. My apologies, as I thought I had done so in the original post on the article.
