Neither do we Vincent... It appears that because the UK has not written any of its own primary legislation for many years, we are likely to copy and paste current EU legislation into Britishicon law.

Then spend 10 years going though and modifying or repealing legislation to suit us.

Firearms Legislation is only one small part of this mess.

Thread 18........ Who says that you have to have a certificate? It's nice to have it but nobody REALLY expects you to have it after 25 years! It's just like the test certificate for your car. No more or less. It either IS an approved deact - or it isn't - cert or not! Go and get it NOW Mr Clarke, they ain't makin' no more!

That's the main problem with these early ones, there is no DA stamp. I personally don't mind giving these "pre official" deacs (before 1988) a home, but I do insist on having the old BPH "failed proof because of deactivation" certificate that came with it originally.

Just more potential trouble than there worth to me without one..

Presumably the Proof Houses won't provide replacement certificates for pre-1988's?

Afraid not, trouble is they now won't provide replacement certs for anything pre April 2016 unless its brought up to the latest spec.

Ah, yes......, point taken. Not DA marked turns it into a grey area.

I think that in general, the Britishicon firearms laws are much stiffer than the European ones. Particularly regarding handguns. When was the last time you took a Colt .45 to the range?
Regarding deactivated weapons in Franceicon. Some have known to be re-activated by terrorist /criminal elements; which has probably caused the tightening of the EU deac' legislation.
