Winchester '44 barrel & stock markings

With the gas cylinder being swaged it could have only been made by Inland, Rock Ola, Buffalo Arms, Saginaw or Brown Lipe Chapin (BI).
I don't recall how post war SA barrels were done.

It's just something about the style/shape of that cylinder and the way it butts againt the under flat/slide grooves area.

Can't recall the CC NL that had info about the shape of real cylinders vs fake ones. I'll look later but at this time I don't believe this is a real GI barrel.

My thoughts.. this one may very well be one of those Kahr Arms/ Auto Ordnance barrels that were being offered up with some having fake maker stamps a few years ago.

I appreciate the help.

Of course I was hoping it was a Winchester barrel and stock but I bought it to be a shooter without any expectation of it being 100% correct (it wasn't advertised as such). In fact I bought it about ten years ago on Gunbroker--I think I paid somewhere around $600. I'll continue to shoot it and if/when I have issues I'll deal with it.

Charlie, there's some good info on faked M1 carbine barrels in CCNL 370 and I believe it refers to an additional article in CCNL 329.

You think this would work if they used the 03a3 barrels and demilled carbine barrels that had swaged cylinders?

A picture of the OP's muzzle and chamber may help.

Here's a genuine 3/1944 Win barrel showing the gas cylinder and the ordnance bomb that everyone (except Marty Black) said was fake but isn't and got my Winchester tossed under the bus. Also is a photo of the PW in oval Winchester proof mark that should be on every barrel they made along with a single W. The stock: It is not uncommon to have the W in the slingwell missing. That W on yours is weird and seems too big.

I don't know for sure and can't remember if the RB was swaged or not. I do remember it was 2-groove and neatly silver brazed. You could see the end of the new barrel at the breach. Again, neatly done and just different enough from a standard carbine barrel that it caught my eye. Also didn't know at the time what RB meant, so had to google it, and it took me to Jim M's website. Seems like it could be done on one with a swaged gas cylinder - pressing the "new" barrel in might insure the tightness of the gas cylinder. - Bob
