Saw that type of symbol only once, and that was on an Israeli weapon, not sure whether it had two W's though as it was a long time ago.
Is it possible it was one that has travelled in your direction from the Holy Land, as it looks like an "after" armourers mark and done not so long ago?
    Just a thought

Its a very common mark found on 100s of surplussed rifles, it is Frankonia of Germanyicon.

Many of the No4 Mk2s that come back from the US that have Century Arms import marks also have the Frankonia Mark and German Proof marks.
