Need help from chuck in Denver or other m1917 Experts
I sold a Winchester Model of 1917. The buyer liked the rifle, but found that the safety was not functioning properly. The safety worked as designed when the bolt was not cocked. but when it was cocked, the safety would not rotate more than about 15 degrees. Can someone help me diagnose the problem, and recommend a fix? Thanks for any assistance.

Can tell you that the AEF requested that no (more) Winchester made rifles be shipped to France in WWI due to incompatibility/inconsistency of parts. Is the part in question Winchester marked or not?
