    Rock-Ola initials.......

I'm amazed at how often you can look at an object over several years, and continue to find new information. Though it's diffucult to photograph, found the intials B AA on the bottom of the stock next to the trigger housing. Carbines were very personal weapons no doubt. Any thoughts or WAGs appreciated.

How does it look when you aim it with that rear sight? I have a Garandicon that has three sets of initials, and an Inland with initials on the bottom of the grip. Don't you wish they could talk!....

Agree with Cafdfw alot of GI's modified their rear sights for the V configuration and additionally removed the wings on the front sight so they would not get confused as to which post to place in the V. Fortunately however, I believe this one to have a different mod.
There is enough of rear sight filed to create matching wings to the front sight. When sighting down the barrel, the rear wings line up perfectly with the front sight wings, creating a very fast target acquisition to the center post. You simply line up the wings, sighting down the barrrel, and place the front post on what you wish to hit. This type of mod leaves the front sight in tact and eliminates any confusion of the front wings. Marcus recently acquired a very nice IP with a similar set up.
Yes, frankderrico, I would love to hear them talk. Keep opening up my safe door quickly, but so far no luck.
Cafdfw that is a beautiful 1903. You got to love that date.

That was a fairly common field mod. The peep sight can be hard to use in low light and many GI's were more familiar with the open 'V' type sights on their civilian rifles.

This date is scratched into the bottom of my 1903 --
