Strange sight 1908 Brazil Mauser
I was hoping one of you could give me the scoop on the sight on this rifle. Its an aperture rear and post-ball front sight. The rifle is all matching, beautiful otherwise. Never seen this on a military mauser before.

I had the same on a 7x57 carbine. Post-ball front sight plus aperture rear sight. The aperture had been fixed with superglue or similar, and fell off when it was accidentally knocked. Gluing suggests a very recent addition. So I left it off and removed the ball (which had been soldered on top of the original Mauser foresight blade) as being non-original and thus forbidden for military rifle competitions, which typically specify that sights must be in the style of the original.
Note that you may have to keep both, or remove both. Otherwise it might be impossible to have a sensible sight setting for 100-200 meters.
