I'm guessing someone had a barrel stub from Belgium and what looks like a home built or trade lock, and created a little pistol. Grip seems curled in too tight for a good firing grasp. 1950s or '60s? Brass furniture has a little age on it. The brass hammer is sort of wierd for a working firearm.

The barrel looks like the breech end of a Belgian break open rook rifle that has been sawn off an re-used to make this gun. You can still see the inspection stamps and silver solder residue where the breech hook was attached up on the right side by the muzzle.
It's *possible* this was cobbled together in the 1800's, but more likely it was put together in the 50's or 60's as stated as a creative way to make use of some bits from the scrap in.
