    1944 M44 correct sling?

Can anyone tell which sling is correct for my 1944 M44 rifle? I have one of these on it now.

Any thoughts on if either/both/neither is correct? Are "dog collars" required to use the Liberty Tree example?
    Thanks

The sling you have on it is correct - although it is probably a post war example.

The LTC slings are probably more associated with post war SMG use than with Mosins. You don't need dog collars when fitting them to Mosin rifles.

Here's a fantastic article about Mosin slings - no doubt you'll find out more looking at that... Russian Combloc slings

Liberty Tree Collectors now has the "correct" WWII pig skin slings. I just got one.

I'm a bit disappointed in it because it is ugly as anything and the "leather" is hard. It is not brittle however and I was able to soften it with some leather conditioner. You do not need the dog collars for it but it might work better with them.

I just finished putting it on my M44 and it isn't bad, just takes some getting used to and if you want it period correct, that's about the best you can do.

I moved the sling off the M44 onto my 1891 which didn't have a sling. It isn't period correct for it but is better than nothing. I need a leather one for that.
