This just passed to me from a E-mail. Notice the first gun on the list.
Anyone know it's current status?

Obama's Gun Ban List Is Out

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.
Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.
Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity. It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They've made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."
Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.
The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

YouTube - CNN- Obama To BAN Guns SPREAD THIS FOLKS, PLZ!
This is from an email that has been past around since January when Holder sent up his "trial ballon" statement. Pelosi immediately made a statement about "enforcing the laws already on the books" which shot him down. Last month 50 something demo congressmen sent a letter to Holder basically making the topic DOA for the next two years. While the Anti's were hoping, it looks like those on the left side of the isle in Congress realize that the 1st ban is how they lost the congress in '96. They do not want a repeat in 2010. Even the "issue" of guns in Mexico is getting "de-stressed" over the fear of a right wing power gain in 2010.... But keep an eye on the big shootings (like the nursing home last week).... the Anti's will play on those... but isn't it strange that the nursing home and that Shooting in Alabama two weeks ago (which were both major tragedies by sick people) have not been played and replayed by the press like what happened at VA Tech ???? Who says that the press is not influenced by key people in power?
Safe for 2 years.... lets celebrate by ordering another Carbine from CMP!!!!

This has been around for quite a while. First the author of the Bill is not Holder. Holder is a kid who was murdered that the bill is named for.
The author of the bill is Bobby Rush, a radical Democrat congressman from Chicago. One of Rush's previous jobs was Minister of Defense of the Black Panther Party at which time he wouldn't have supported a bill like this I promise you.
The bill as of this moment has zero sponsors and I figure zero chance of passage right now. I saw Rush interviewed and even he conceded that. That dosen't mean that in the next year or two, maybe after 2010 if things go the Dems way we may not see this actually brought to the floor for a vote.
Semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes.
Obama expressed the above almost verbatim in interviews before he was elected. He said there was no reason any citizen should have any gun originally designed for military use.
S.45 the latest version/registration scheme with that gun ban list had a grandfather clause. Like the Clinton Gun Ban if you got it you can keep it but you can't buy new. The CGB went after Hi Cap (clips), old stocks could be sold but no new manufacture.
In my humble opinion the main reason they have not tried this BS is that it would mean the loss of more american jobs at a time when we need everyone of them we have. It is also my humble opinion that the Global Economy scheme is falling flat on it's collective glutius maximus. They wanted it they got it and it is failing. Keep your arms and ammo close we will need them before or when society collapses.

You're talking apples and oranges here. The bill that Bobby Rush is pushing is the "BLAIR HOLT" Registration and Licensing bill. It was named after Blair Holt, a teenager who was shot to death in Chicago.
ERIC HOLDER is the Attorney General of the United States, who is pushing the new "Assault Weapons" ban (but did not write it). My understanding is that it was written by the staffs of Diane Feinstein and Charles Schumer, with a lot of help by the Brady organization.

From cafdfw: Semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes.
Seems to me, this particular gun ban (even during the Clinton era), was and is against the law of the land. Regarding Miller and his Stevens shotgun with a less than 18" barrel, the Supreme Court ruled in 1939...
In the absence of any evidence tending to show that possession or use of a 'shotgun having a barrel of less than eighteen inches in length' at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument. Certainly it is not within judicial notice that this weapon is any part of the ordinary military equipment or that its use could contribute to the common defense.
