Leather Leggings Military?

Wife brought these home in the bottom of a box of flea market junk.
I cleaned them up and they look pretty nice.
No visible marking except for some initial and an 'R' in the right one.

Anybody know from where they originate and time period? Military or just nice civilian stuff?

I think they're WW1, officers type.
