Lithgow Safeties.
Going though my bits box to find a safety to bugger up, (mark for import requirements) and found that I had spares of all the Lithgow ones.

I think that it is a personal visual representation of safe and fire Green to Green = Safe then the other Red to Red = Fire, personally I do not think the SMLE or No.4 safety is confusing at all back to you for safe forward away from you for fire easy as..........

Looks like something to get caught and bent.

That's a good idea Jim. Not something you'd appreciate on a rifle

It's an Australian import requirement. I've had to modify the safety bolt for a few Lees being exported to Australia. I very carefully drilled a depression on the top and underside of the thumb piece, (bolt), and filled the depressions with green on the bottom and red on the top. It leaves a neat tidy little green and red dot. They were perfectly acceptable to Australian Customs upon entry. I put the original safety levers in the butt traps too for the owners so they remained original and intact.

Sounds like something that's been thought up by someone completely unfamiliar with firearms and certainly with these...
