    Mossberg 144US Questions

Hoping you guys can help shed some light on a 144US I picked up at a gunshow recently. Rifle is parkerized and has serial US35120; however, the zero looks like it was hand stamped later but before rifle was parked. BARREL has DOUBLE circled P stamp. Rifle has twin holes to mount rear sight and a Mossberg S331 is installed, though my understanding was that a Redfield with one mount screw was used. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Sheppsan

Pictures help. You might have better luck over on the Mossberg section at Rimfire Central. 2 threaded holes are for the mounting block the rear sight attaches to. If the block is missing, good luck finding one. Havlin Sales sells a new rear sight that attaches directly without the block. Good stuff.

The serial number should only be 4 digits after the US, so the 0 would have been added. The original sight was a Redfield, however I have seen them at CMPicon clubs with Mossberg sights installed, probably some time in its past service.

I was told that there were duplicate Serial numbers and the 0 was added post manufacture. There are several reported on the 144us sticky at rimfire central, Mossberg thread.
