I was wondering if I could get some help with my Ross 1905 and Springfield 1898
I recently purchased a Ross 1905 rifle, and traded my Mossberg 500 for a Springfield Model 1898. I was wondering if I could possibly get a ballpark on their value.
The Ross has a scope mount, I know that hurts the value. Luckily he still had the old rear sight for it.
The Springfield 1898, I know the sights are crap, but other than that it seems OK.
Thank you ahead of time for any info and help.

Interesting Sights
Hello f8lcobra,
I wish I had some answers for you... instead this post has raised questions for me. I'm from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and had no idea gun sights were made here. I'm pretty interested in the sights marked New Glasgow. Which rifle are they off (I'm assuming the Ross; but at this point I've learned to stop assuming?
Thanks.

Yes, they are off of the Ross.

Since nobody else has jumped in I'll tell you. Your Mossberg was worth more then both of these combined as they sit. Worth more parted out.

Don't know if I'd go quite that far, WP. Depends on where you are I reckon. Used Mossberg 500's can be had for $100-$150 around here. As it sits the buggered old Krag won't fetch much more, maybe $200-$250 on a good day but as long as the bore was good I'd have it any day over a Mossberg 500. Can't comment on the Ross as they almost never turn up this far south.

Canadian market that sort of example of the Ross is currently worth about $150-300 considering the addition of the target sight, I am tracking a handful of sporterized guns right now and that is their price point. I am not sure what the US market would run by way of comparison.

I'm going off new pricing @ around $350.00ish. Maybe I am being a bit harsh....

Well, I paid $150 for the Ross. The Mossberg only had 5 shells through it and three barrels. I like the 1898, thought I did alright, good thing it doesn't bother me too bad that I was upside down in the trade. Thank you for the info.

Now that all the cards are on the table I have to fully agree with WarPig.
