Question 1913 Enfield No. 1 Mk III

The Serial Numbers on the receiver, barrel, rear sight and bayonet lug match; the bolt is a mismatch.
    (The magazine is not serialized.)

    Magazine Cut-off open . . .

    Magazine Cut-off closed . . .

Details of windage adjustable rear sight . . .

Close-ups of stock disk and stock markings . . .

    A.A. over 920
    2EIRR over 510

    A (arrow) A
    IIG

I have received a lot of information regarding these markings:

    A. A. may refer to Ardrossan Academy in the U.K. that provided officers' training during WWI and WWII

2EIRR is a mark of a unit of the East India Railway Volunteer Rifles

IIG is an Indian Government Mark (although this rifle doesn't have an "ishy" screw which would indicate that the Indians refurbrished it.)

(Any other suggestions or interpretation of these marks would be deeply appreciated.)

This old piece has apparently seen a lot of world history and it would be great if it could be put in chronological order and documented.

"AA" is much more likely to stand for "Allahabad Arsenal".

    Nice rifle indeed.

That would certainly make since and tie the IIG stamp on the stock and the EIRR stamp on the disk together in a nice package.

I googled Allahabad Arsenal and found this link that to a page that displayed a similar stock disk with the A A and EIRR markings (you will need to scroll down the page to find the disk):

    Many thanks,
