    thinking of selling

i would like an honest opinion on what my underwood is worth. ive been out of work for 12 weeks, i and i know i am not getting called up for another 10 weeks. anyway, im thinking of putting this up on gunbroker. last one i seen in almost condition as mine was 4200. so i figure a real collector will give me around 5k. any thoughts?
i did do a data sheet on it. i used ruth's book as a reference
its been in my family since 1943 , and has never been fired outside the factory

Everyone else is getting low on cash too.I am sure there are still deep pockets buying, but guys like me who could buy a nice peice every six months or so are out of the game. That Underwood also won a major carbine show, yours has not.
Your real problem is do you have the moral flexibility to sell a family heirloom burn through the cash and deal with wishing you had it back for the rest of your life? Logging on here every now and then and telling us about the carbine you used to have? Telling future generations of you family how sweet Grandpas carbine was but it is gone forever?
Perhaps you could mow some lawns, pump some gas or collect scrap metal do get you through for a few weeks.

Please do not sell that carbine! Sell the kids first or the wife but not the carbine.

Really, the carbine is not going to carry you forever and when that dough runs out you'll be in the same boat only without the carbine.

You have to do what's right for you in your situation.

Sure hope you can find some way to hang on to that Underwood though. It's a beauty, and you may never find another as nice. I sold a mint, as issued IBM, and have had a number of "second thoughts".

    Best of luck to you.
