Is the front sight really fake?
I sold the pictured N marked front sight the other day. The guy got it and here is what he had to say:
"Received sight today. I believe it is a fake. Oriqinals were not Blued.
The stamped N is not the right size or location. It looks as if it was
made with two different tools to form the N .
I would like a complete
refund since it was misrepresented."
I am giving him a refund, that's no problem.
It actually came off of a CMP Underwood, so I doubt that it is fake. It is that dark blued/black finish that we see on many original, small Carbine parts.
Would anybody actually fake an N marked front sight?
What do you guys think?
Thanks, Greg V

It would appear the buyer is grossly misinformed.

Who did you sell it to, Seth? Everyone's an expert now it seems. I had a guy complain about a full seam 30 round mag. said it must be fake because he had never seen one before. Go figure.
But you don't need a disgruntled buyer. I would refund also and then resell it.
Maybe send him this thread and see what he says. At least you might save shipping and the hassle of reselling.

Its the real thing. The guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.

I looked at three of my CMP carbines with N sights and the N on all three is straight as you hold barrel up; not sideways as shown in James pic.

The reals have it. The buyer will never be happy.
