I found this on the Full-bore.com website. There is some lovely stuff in the auction inc Sec 7.1 and 7.3 pistols. See http://australianarmsauctions.com/cat_online_1.html for what I mean

Speaking from previous experience, make sure you have someone inspect any items in person before you commit and if possible room bid for you. The pictures can be very flattering, not to mention bidding practices.

Good information...about the bidding and practices. The pictures and write ups are great, for instance a #4 cruciform that has no proof other than their say so... But there certainly is some nice stuff, a #1MkV that they suggest will go at $3500 AusD. Nice rifle though. Also an Owen SMG at $5-6000 AusD.

Bidding practices are always a concern. I have been to some auctions that start off at the absentee bidders max. Some may say that is a fair thing for the estate or auction house but it is not fair to the bidder that placed the absentee bid.

I have run into that as well, even at some local auctions, and it is a dishonest practice in my opinion. If I put in an absentee bid of $1000, and if the auctioneer starts with my bid of $1000, but the only other person at that auction who was interested in the item was only willing to pay $400, I just got ripped off for $550 (since I would have had to pay $450 to bid up the competition). It benefits the consignor and the auction house and no one else. I stopped bidding at a Canadian auction house for a few years because I was suspicious that my absentee bids always seemed to win the items for either my max or just one under. Funny how that works!
