First let me say hello, as a newcomer to these forums. Looks like an interesting place!
I have inherited an M1 Carbine and would appreciate any idea of exactly what I have and it's possible value.
It is marked US Carbine Cal. 30 at the top of the action and Inland Div and the serial number 488xxx at the base of the action.
The stock seems have just a smooth sanded finish, reddish in colour and is marked with a cartouche on the right side and a circled P (sans serif) on the bottom of the grip portion of the stock. Both the stock and the handguard are marked "10" inside so I assume it is an original matching set.
Barrel is marked on top just back of the front sight: Inland MFG Div., General Motors, 6-43. About halfway between that and the forestock is a P. It does not have the bayonet mount.
The F in MFG seems to be missing the small bar in the letter (or my eyesight is going).
Everything seems in excellent shape. I hope to have some pictures tomorrow.
I also have 3 magazines that need modification to be legal for use in Canada being as they're 15 round. One is marked A1, one UW and the third K1.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.Information
