New member, 1903 a3 Remington with "C" stock
Hello all, New member here from SE PA. Just got back from the local gun emporium, and came across a minty rem 03a3 with 2 groove brl, and factory c stock. I am fairly new to US ww2 arm collecting (but not gun collecting), and thought this would be a nice one to start off my collection. Just a question on this, are they rare with C type stock ?? looks to be all original with all "R" marked parts, no import marks. Stock has many clear proof marks stamped in it. Thanks all for any feedback on this.

Roscoe - Welcome to the forum! Here's a link to a sticky at the top of the forum page - Remington 1903A3 (displaying original configuration and finish)
It will show the correct mix of blue and parkerized finish on most all A3's when they came off the "assembly line". When they went through an arsenal rebuild, which most did, many of the parts were refinished by parkerizing.
C-stocks are not rare, whether pre-WWII or not. They are common on rebuilds. '
Some more detailed information can help you with a little more "history" on the rifle in question. Serial #/barrel date/finish is a big help. If you just want a shooter, the C-stock is a big plus. Very popular right now.
The M1903A3 is an awesome weapon all-around. Easy to use sights make for excellent accuracy in a very affordable piece of WWII history.
If it's in good shape, you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the helpful info MikeD. I looked at the link you sent, and the finish on the rifle I am looking at seems to be very similar to the finish on the rifle in the photos, even has similar stock markings. I think I will go for it to start off my collection.

You understand that the Type C stock is not original? If the pictures are similar to the ones in the link Mike provided, that is a "straight" stock.

Yes, understand stock is not original to gun, must have been rebuilt at some time. The serial number is 3,773,XXX, and barrel is 2 groove with 6/43 date. The only metal part That does not have an "R" on it is the front sight cover. this has the number "C64157-4" on one side and a triangle with what looks like the letter "G" inside it on the other side and it has a blued finish. any ideas on this.? overall the rifle is in beautiful minty condition with a minty bore. price is $600.00. Just curious, price wise, what would a correct all original model go for these days like the one in the photos ?? thanks guys.
