clue: the Soviet cartridge uses a 7,62mm bullet while the other cartridge uses a 8.4mm bullet

8 mm Pieper cartridge is correct answer
Al, you got it right, it is the 8mm Pieper (8,4x40R) even factory loaded in the USA until around 1916. Pieper revolvers and carbines used in Mexico from the late 1890's into the 1930's
loading buy Remington for the 8mm Pieper: 106 gr bullet @ 1150 fps

Another guess the cartridge

Is it a .45 Silhouette? (A .45-70 shortened to 1.5") No, it can't be that because you said Black Powder. Is it a .45-60 Winchester?

need to re-word my statement, Winchester never manufactured a firearm chambered for this cartridge. The cartridge shown in the photo has a Winchester headstamp
