I'm thinking it's high given condition and non-matching. Unless Swede's have gone through Garand-like inflation and I missed it.

IMO, you're $100 high.

Float it for 7 days at that price and see if there's a taker....

If not, drop the price to $350 plus shipping and float another 7 days...

In the above cases, I'm assuming you don't need CASH right now and can wait. I never sell anything because I have to......

Finally, go to $300 plus shipping and perhaps think about including shipping with a $325 including shipping pitch....

It's a nice rifle with beautiful wood, but an "also ran" for Swede (built in 1920's), which with the mismatched floorplate, makes it of interest to the "shooter" crowd as opposed to the serious Swedish collector crowd. It could make a good "starter" rifle for a young collector starting out, trying to keep his costs down.

The butt disc also shows both a "2" and a "3" for the last inspections. That seems odd for a bright and beautiful bore as described. Is the rifling good and strong and no other anomalies in the bore?

What's the serial number and I can check on how many were made that year, if you'd like.

$300-325 s the going rate for a minor mismatched M96. Maybe slightly more if it were a desireable oddity like walnut stocked, Oberndorf made, or pre 1900 dated.

Perfect examples are generally selling in the $375-400 range and yours is nowhere near "perfect" IMHO.

FWIW, I just bought a "perfect" M96/38 for $200 at my local shop which points to CGN prices being a bit inflated, but hte audience is large enough to bear that.

Thanks gentlemen, I did a search of the EE to find a similar example to make a price match, but didnt find any. So I shot from the hip.

Ill change the price.

The bore, is very strong and bright, ill add a picture to this thread for the curious minds.

Serial number is: BF 510683

here are some attempts of a good bore picture, as you can see no corrosion, strong rifleing and nicely bright. But i suppose it isnt mint. I will add that to the EE ad.

According to the Jone's Crown Jewels book, only 2,149 M96 rifles were made in 1924; the smallest number of any production year. Too bad its mismatched. Compare to 1917 at 43,836 produced.

Tell me about it. I'm REALLY struggling with what to let go these ast two weeks. I've far outgrown storage space and the collection has gone in too many collections. It's still hard to decide what can go though as I'm freeing up those funds for a more focused purchase

Indeed, I have 12 rifles in my 10 rifle cabinet. (Rifle socks are great, keeps rilfes from getting scratched), and the whole notion of "focus" is not stopping me from buying out of focus rifles and handguns. But the same excuse is what makes me sell a milsurp in the first place.
