Michael,
I fully endorse the idea of "Marking" your work and "your mark" looks great.
I, however, would propose that you mark the rifle itself and in the same location for all. My thoughts are to mark the side (Left side?) of the barrel somewhere (2.0"?) in front of the receiver and just below the wood line.
Mark all rifles <> same location.
Marking only a butt plate might confuse later generations into thinking it was a "MP" butt plate.

Let me make it clear that I did not do the work on this rifle, it’s beyond my ability. This rifle had a scope mounted on it, the bolt was bent, then the stock cut out for it and the receiver was cut out as well.
