A P-47N pilot's Colt..

This Colt came from Lt George Halsey, USAAF. Lt Halsey flew with the 6Th Fighter Group in the P-47N, which was the long range version used in the pacific.. About 20 documents from the Lt's service record came with the Colt, and I have attached a couple. Hmmmm, the documents indicate that the pistol and holster were "turned in" on 2/8/45!!!!

Mike, I have been collecting documented .45s for years and lots of folks know that, so they tend to find me!!!!!!!

Here is another example. This Colt belonged to Col. Dean Wilker, USMC. The Col. served in WW II, Korea and wound up as the CO of Marine Aircraft Group 12 in Vietnam.!!! A true American hero... I love this tag. The NCOIC of the Station Armory valued his stripes!!!

Mr. Holbrook, I noticed a difference in the serial number on photo #1 and the first documentation. Not sure as my eye sight is not what it use to be and I could be reading it wrong or the writer could have hurried the last 3 numbers.

Carried often, never used. Suspect you know what an unused, vintage and documented 1911A1 is worth. I'd bet the 'Halsey' pistol is worth more than the 'Wilker'. Hopefully, they're not part of your retirement fund.

Here are two more interesting documents that show he turned in TWO Colt's the same day!! However, he obviousley kept 834321.. I LOVE this stuff! I suspect that "somehow" he came into possession of 834321 and the turn-in document "laundered" it!!!
