    No4 Mk1 Rear Sight Question

I have a 1943 Long Branch Enfield that was given to me. Someone had butchered it and made a deer rifle out of it and I'm trying to putit back the way it should be.

I have already replaced the wood, barrel bands, front sighthood and hardware. I'm down to needing a rear sight assy. How do I know if it came with the 'L' shaped sight or the ladder adjustable sight? It looks like i need the entire assy, including the pin, pin retainer, plunger and plunger spring.

Here is a picture of the top rear of the receiver.

And here is a pic of what I have done so far.

    Thanks for any guidance,

    Adam

Adam, More than likely it originally had the Mk.II flip sight in '43. Stamped steel Mk.3 (stamped Mk.II) and Mk.4 (stamped C Mk.III) would've been used to replace the Mk.II post war.

PS Brian Dickicon, may have the Canadianicon parts you need:

Looks like the barrel has been shortened, about three inches including the bayonet lugs.
This sort of shortened No.4 , otherwise intact, was used by African Game Wardens.
Even if not entirely correct with a shortened barrel it does look to be a handy woods rifle.

    Looks good indeed.

Many sporterized No4 have just a tiny bit cut off; 1 to 1.5 inches maybe? Just behind the bayo lugs. Too bad... Especially since I believe this would have only been done for aestetic reasons.
