    M1 Garand

I purchased a Springfield M1icon Garand in 1992 that was refurbished by Blue Sky Productions in Arlington Virginia..Story is they purchased a crap load of surplus rifles from Korean warehouses, rebuilt and parkerized them. Beautiful rifle I may add, stock is a little beat up but shoots well..Anyone else have one of these and any comments, and what are they worth today.

While Blue Sky MAY have re-Parked the rifle, they certainly didn't "rebuild" it! If you've got a decent "Blue Sky" or "Arlington Ordnance" Garand....it simple luck of the draw! Generally, those rifles were "run hard and put away wet", and sold in the US cheap. The vast majority of them had some flavor of wear/condition related problem, making them far less desirable (and considerably less valuable) compared to a DCM/CMPicon "One-Owner" rifle.

Having said that...I bought 4 or 5 of them "back in the day", and rebuilt all of them into very nice rifles.

That bad eh! I guess I got lucky then cause aside from the stock it's in very good condition, sharp bore no pitting anywhere. Then again I did buy it a long time ago.

    M1 Garand

I actually have one of these and I suppose that I got luck of the draw also because mine's great apart from the stock finish which is a little faded.

I have one too. Built in Nov. 43. Barrel was pretty rough so I put a correct-dated barrel on it. Most parts showed very little wear. Replaced the "Mystery-Wood' stockset witrh a Dark Walnut CMPicon stockset. It's now my Garandicon Match rifle. 85% correct too(GAW stocksets are a little pricey).

Didn't get to Perry this year John. Used most of my vacation taking care of the wife, she's still pretty bad. Probably going to the local range tomorrow(Sunday). Took my High power match Garandicon last time, probably take the Garand Match rifle this time. Usually haul about four guns up there when I go.

You didn't miss much this year...RAIN! All day, targets turned into goo, and my son and I were supposed to be shooting the last 2 relays....rather than screw up the rifle and all my gear, we split! BTW, the issued ammo (Hornady) is GREAT!

There is NO comparison to the other "stuff"! It's real match ammo with a 168 gr A-Max ball that goes EXACTLY where you point it (for good or ill!)! Nice shooting my Springfield without having to destroy my hand/wrist beating the bolt open!
