Several years ago whilst hanging around the Navy Van at the Nationals I had occasion to see a couple trophy rifles that the owners were intending to shoot in the Garandicon match. I remember thinking they should have looked better than they did. Which led me to believe they were simply taken out of the rack and sent to the awardee.
I just got mine and it looks brand new. I am very impressed with it. 4.3 mil with a Oct 1952 SA barrel. Haven't taken it apart yet or gauged it. Not a scratch or dent anywhere.
It came wrapped in vapor proof paper with a date of 1967 and one of those cardboard tubes in the barrel.
This rifle is beautiful.
